OFA YLT host successful Girls' Coaching and Refereeing event

Over 20 girls aged 13-16 attended the OFA Youth Leadership Team event providing an introduction to coaching & refereeing

Yesterday (Monday 26th June), as part of the build-up to the FIFA Women’s World Cup, our OFA Youth Leadership Team delivered a workshop aimed at introducing 13-16-year-olds to coaching and refereeing.

The sessions were led by Vicky Fisher, Coach Development Officer for the West region at The FA, and Women's Super League official Ella Broad , who was awarded the FA Match Official of the Year award in 2020.

Michael Thurlow, Football Development Manager said “It was fantastic to see so many girls attend the event and the engagement shown was incredible. We hope the event, along with the upcoming FIFA Women's World Cup inspires attendees and other girls in the county to take up coaching or pick up the whistle!”

As part of the event, participants provided feedback on what support they require and what they would like future events to look like.

The Oxfordshire FA Youth Leadership team have plans to deliver similar events in the future so if you would like to know more please get in touch with Michael Thurlow (Football Development Manager) via Development@OxfordshireFA.com
