Walking football is a popular, and growing, format of the game

Walking Football

Enjoy the beautiful game at a slower pace

YOU CAN TALK THE TALK BUT CAN YOU WALK THE WALK?

No sprinting. No running and don't even think about jogging!

Walking Football is exactly as the name suggests - you play football, walking. Usually aimed at people over 50, this inclusive, fun and sociable 5-a-side version of the game is slow-paced but lacks none of the passion or excitement of the original game.

Whether you're looking to keep active, stay fit, or simply want to play for the love of the game, Walking Football offers the perfect opportunity to take to the pitch.

As well as the health benefits associated with most forms of physical activity; keeping fit and active, weight loss etc there are also many social health benefits that come with playing Walking Football.

Taking time to socialise, meet new people or even build confidence are all part and parcel of taking part in this slower version of the beautiful game.

We've teamed up with a number of partners across the game to ensure that Walking Football is provided at locations throughout Oxfordshire.

Indoor or outdoors. Male or mixed sessions. Morning or afternoon. There's a session to suit you.

Want to get involved?

We have several recreational opportunities across the county which are growing fast – for more information on your nearest session check out the tabs below.

Alternatively, please get in touch & we will be happy to help you find your local session!

Throughout the year, we deliver ad-hock Walking Football Festivals in collaboration with local partners. This provides a perfect opportunity for walking football groups to get together and enjoy the beautiful game.

We also deliver the Oxfordshire FA Walking Football Cup annually which was first introduced in 2019!

In May 2022, Oxfordshire FA collaborated with the Oxfordshire Over 50s Football League and local walking football clubs to establish the Oxfordshire Walking Football League.

This is a central venue league that operates once a month at Whitelands Farm Sports Ground across May, June, July & August. The league has 14 teams participating across 50+ and 60+ divisions.

You can check out the league fulltime page to see how participating teams are getting on here

If you would like to get involved or like further information on in the festivals, Oxfordshire Walking Football Cup or Oxfordshire Walking Football League please get in touch with us as we will be happy to answer any questions.
