Throughout the weekend there have been many stories published on the internet about the sudden death of local football legend Micky Lewis and the Oxfordshire FA wish to add their condolences to Micky’s immediate family and to his huge football family.
Micky did a lot for football in the county with Oxford United through to Oxford City and Stonesfield Strikers, for whom his young son plays.
Micky was dedicated to coaching after his playing days ended and for him there was no better learning environment that out on the pitch.
Micky would spend all day, every day out on the pitch, whatever the weather, passing on his knowledge to many aspiring footballers young and old. Micky even found time to coach the Oxford University Varsity teams.
Micky always made time for everyone, and joined us a few years back to make the presentations at our Awards Evening. The picture above shows Micky with Robyn Cowan, from BBC Oxford, who was our compare for the evening.
Rest in peace, Micky.
