Every Mind Matters

Big Names Champion Mental Health

Support shown throughout FA Cup Third Round as new video is launched.

With The FA’s Heads Up campaign supported during the Emirates FA Cup third round last weekend, a new film has been launched to encourage football fans to talk about their mental wellbeing.

The FA announced in December that all third-round ties will kick off a minute later than usual as part of our partnership with Heads Together to generate the biggest-ever conversation around mental health.

The film is narrated by HRH The Duke of Cambridge and features a number of high-profile figures from across football, many of whom featured in the Emirates FA Cup third round.

The powerful one-minute video features the likes of Frank Lampard, Harry Maguire and Son Heung-Min, and will play across stadiums, online and TV broadcasts to reaching millions of football fans in England.

The film has been released as a collaboration between Public Health England’s Every Mind Matters campaign and Heads Up, as we team up to raise awareness of the simple actions we can all take to look after our mental health.

As part of the Every Mind Matters initiative, football fans can complete their Mind Plan – a quick and free tool that has already been completed over one million times.

By taking a minute to answer a few questions about how they are feeling, fans will get their own personalised action plan. Clinically assured by the NHS, the plan recommends a range of evidence-based self-care actions for each individual, which are designed to deal with stress, boost their mood, improve sleep and feel more in control – preventing these common mental health concerns escalating into more serious, clinical conditions.
