The FA Level 1 in Coaching is for anyone interested in learning more about coaching. It provides you with the skills and knowledge to prepare you to coach football at the grassroots level.

Frequently asked questions about the FA Level 1 Award in Coaching Football

No, all you need is an enthusiasm and passion for developing players. Our coaching courses will give you the basic information you need to coach.
The best first step is to speak with your local club and get involved with a team. From there you can find out more about it and then book yourself on to one of our friendly Level 1 courses.
All you need is a criminal records check (CRC)! If you’re part of a Charter Standard Club you will also need a Level 1 coaching course as a minimum which also includes the FA Emergency Aid and FA Safeguarding Children qualifications too.
You can attend our coaching workshops throughout the season which will give you more session ideas and information. Additionally, you can join the FA Licensed Coaches Club for free which has many sessions and videos.
Yes. These elements are part of the course, however, you don’t have to do them if you already have them and they are in date.
No, as long as they are in date you won’t need to sit them again. When they are close to expiring we advise that you renew them as soon as possible.

3 years from the date of the course.

The FA Emergency Aid and FA Safeguarding Children certificates can be accessed online 48 hours after you complete the course. The FA Level 1 certificate will be sent to you within 6-8 weeks of completion.
There is a 2 hour Safeguarding workshop followed by a one hour online module. Both MUST be completed to achieve the qualification. There are also online modules to complete as part of the new FA Level 1 course. These must be completed to receive your Level 1 qualification.
