Oxfordshire FA Coaches Conference 2024

Mike Phelan and David Horricks announced as keynote speakers of our annual Coaches Conference.

Oxfordshire FA is excited to confirm details of our 2024 Coaches Conference, which this year will be headlined by keynote speakers Mike Phelan and David Horricks.

Taking place on Sunday 12 May 2024, between 9am and 5pm at Kidlington Football Club, the Oxfordshire FA Coaches Conference is simply a must for coaches of all levels. Providing insight from leading coaches in the game, the event ensures participants obtain invaluable knowledge to take with them into training and matches, as well as a chance to network and share ideas.

In addition to our keynote talk, the afternoon session of our Coaches Conference will consist of a LIVE match observation of the Women’s FA Cup Final, led by County Coach Developer, Mark Haining.

Coaches will also be treated to a session led by Power Up To Play, who will be highlighting how grassroots clubs can use effective injury-prevention warm-ups in youth sport.

There will be a focus, also, on areas of the game where Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) ruptures are at a higher risk. Founded by medical professionals in 2019, Power Up To Play was established in Oxfordshire, but are now a nationwide initiative with 98 ambassadors operating across 30 counties in the UK.

After leaving Manchester United in 2013, Mike became assistant manager, caretaker manager and, later, permanent manager of Hull City in the Premier League, winning Manager of the Month in August 2016. Following a brief spell as Sporting Director with South Coach Mariners in Australia, Mike returned to Manchester United, where was part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralph Rangnick’s coaching staff.
