Oxfordshire FA is delighted to be offering the opportunity for Walking Football teams across the county to compete in the first-ever Oxfordshire FA Walking Football Cup.

The one-day competition, sponsored by Age UK Oxfordshire, will take place at The Oxford Academy in Littlemore on Sunday 28 April 2019.

This competition follows on from the success and increased turn-out at the Oxfordshire Walking Football Festivals, which took place throughout 2018 and delivered in partnership with Better Leisure.

Oxfordshire FA would like to welcome ALL Walking Football teams across the county – or any groups that would like to create a team – to enter.

Michael Thurlow, Football Development Manager at Oxfordshire FA, said: “We are delighted to provide this opportunity to teams in Oxfordshire to compete for the new Walking Football Cup.

“Walking Football has seen a huge growth in Oxfordshire and this will provide further opportunities for individuals to participate more competitively.”

Walking Football, as the name suggests, is a slow-paced version of the beautiful game which is aimed specifically at players aged 50 and over.

The deadline for all teams to register is Sunday 31 March 2019. There is a registration fee of £30 per team that must be paid upon entry and by the deadline.

FAQs

Who can enter?
Walking football established teams or any group that would like to create a team can enter. They must be based in Oxfordshire. All players must be male aged 50 or older.

What time does the competition start?
Registration will be at 9:30am with first KO at 10am.

How many aside is this competition?
It is 6 aside.

How many players can I have in my squad?
Teams can register a maximum of 9 players to their squad.

How many teams can each club enter?
A club can enter a maximum of two teams and players can only participate for one team on the day. 

What is the cost?
There is a registration fee of £30 that must be paid by the deadline. This can be paid via BACS, card or cheque.

What playing surface is the competition taking place on?
All fixtures will be players on Oxford Academy 3G pitch. Football moulded boots or astro-turf trainers are allowed. No metal studs or blades can be worn. 

What are the rules for this competition?
All teams will be sent the rules before the competition so all players are aware.
