Host a new Wildcats Centre

Grassroots clubs and organisations across the county are invited to express their interest in delivering one of the new Wildcats Centre

Grassroots clubs and organisations across the county are invited to express their interest in delivering one of the new Wildcats Centres across Oxfordshire as The FA programme expands within the county.

The programme which aims to increase girls’ participation between the ages of 5-11 will see 9 new centres set up across Oxfordshire with a target of interacting with at least 210 new players.

Centres will become hubs for girls’ football in their local area, and provide weekly training sessions for girls to who haven’t played football before.

After a successful pilot in the county which saw three centres run in Carterton, Kidlington and Bicester, we are looking for clubs and organisations who feel they can successfully run new centres. The required criteria to run a Wildcats Centre are:

- Staff:
o 1x Administrator
o 2x FA licensed Coach (minimum Level 1)
o 2x Volunteers (minimum age 14)
o 1x Designated safeguarding officer
o Please note that at least one coach/volunteer must be female in a bid to increase the number of role models for the participants
- Each centre  must have a Safeguarding Children Policy
- Have proof that your venue complies with Health and Safety regulations
- An Accident Reporting process

Funding

Wildcats Centres must be delivered a minimum of 1 hour a week for 16 weeks from the week commencing April 9th 2018. Successful organisations will be able to access £900 of funding to set up and deliver the project. The funding will be granted with 50% at the start of the programme and 50% half way through providing registers have been completed.

Football Development Officer James Shiplee said: “I’m delighted that we have the opportunity to expand the Wildcats Centres in Oxfordshire. The programme has been a great success in its first year and I’m sure it will continue. I look forward to liaising with new partners and providers as we look to engage with as many girls as possible moving forwards to continue the growth of girls football in the county.”
