FA Playmaker

The FA Playmaker supported by BT is our new, free online entry-level football course perfect for anyone interested in taking a more active role in grassroots football.

There are five modules in total and you don’t need any previous football experience or qualifications before signing up.

In fact, all you need is an FA Number (FAN) and a laptop, tablet or mobile device. Then you’re good to go.

Once you’re signed up, you’ll cover the following topics:

- make football 'For All'
- connect with your players
- create fun sessions
- keep football safe
- take your next step.

By the end, you'll be ready to hit the pitch with confidence and start helping out at your local grassroots football club, centre, or initiative.

RETURNING TO PLAY - Positive Practice Sessions CPD #1

Tuesday 1st December 2020

This Coach Development session aims to support coaches Return to Play following the national lockdown. The first session of two focuses on training, ensuring that FUN is at the fore of coaches minds as they return to the grass.

Online FA Safeguarding & Emergency Aid Online Modules

COVID-19 has impacted on The FA and County FAs' ability to offer face to face education. Whilst long term plans are being made to offer alternative, sustainable delivery models it is necessary to make temporary changes for the 2020/2021 season. These changes apply for new and existing FA Charter Standard accredited clubs.


Safeguarding For All
An introductory safeguarding course identical to the module within The FA Playmaker that stands alone and can be taken by anyone over the age of 14.

Two free, online courses to support first aid in football FA Education continue to offer the two below courses to support first aid in football. Both courses are free, online and can be accessed by any internet enabled device.

The courses above do NOT replace The FA Level 1 in Coaching Football qualification, The FA Safeguarding Children Workshop or any of The FA medical qualifications level 1 to level 5, but have interim and longer-term roles in creating safe, fun and inclusive football for the youth game.

The FA Welfare Officers Course – Virtual Workshops now available

Awarded by The FA, this course is designed to explore the role of a grassroots football Welfare Officer.

This two-hour workshop is mandatory for anyone taking on the role of Welfare Officer for their grassroots club or league. Building on the Safeguarding Children Workshop, it focuses on the specifics of the role, what is required, and the key tools needed to carry out the role. It also explains where to go for professional support and guidance, and how to access more information if needed.

Delivered via a virtual classroom, learners should expect an interactive session and will be encouraged to participate through a chat function as well as via microphone, where relevant.

During this course you will cover:

- Safeguarding frameworks
- Taking action
- Recruitment, education, monitoring and compliance
- Children’s voices
