Referees

Referees

Ever tried playing a game of football without a referee?

It's difficult, right?

We’re dedicated to supporting and enabling a team of highly motivated and FA qualified referees. We support the work of around 350 match officials all of whom are staunch supporters of the grassroots game and its development.

Become a Referee

Think you can lead from the front, make the tough calls?

Of course you can and we're here to help you along your journey as a referee or assistant referee.

Need more convincing? Take a look at some of these reasons to pick up the whistle:

  • Refereeing is a great way to be involved in football
  • There are opportunities for everyone
  • Remain active in the game following injury or retirement
  • Make new and lasting friends within the game
  • Play a huge role in ensuring the players enjoy their match day experience

Refereeing Support

Whilst refereeing is often seen as an individual activity, there are always people on hand to support you.

Our referees are recruited, trained and examined to help provide the best possible football experience for all involved. As they gain experience further opportunities are provided to aid their development and progression.  Appointments are made to adult and youth County Cup ties, together with games in certain national FA competitions.

So, whether you want help with the registration process, personal insurance for referees or information about your local Referees Association - we’re here for you.

Development & Courses

Everyone has ambition, we all have a dream and referees are no different.

Whether it's to referee the FA Cup Final or to officiate regularly in your local league we'll do our best to help you achieve it.
