Oxfordshire FA Walking Football Cup 2022-23 takes place

On Sunday 30th October, 13 teams competed in the Oxfordshire FA Walking Football Cup.

Delivered in partnership with the Oxfordshire Walking Football League, the event took place at Whitelands Farm Sports Ground with the 13 teams taking part in separate competitions for those 50 plus and 60 plus.

Teams who participated included Oxford United Walking Football Club, Rotherfield United, Charlbury Town Walking Football Club, Cherwell Strollers, Bicester Fossils, Oxford Rovers Walking Football Club, Chalgrove Cavaliers and Banbury Matureitans.

Both competitions had a round robin league with two teams qualifying for the final. Both league competitions were very tight with qualification going down to goal difference in both.

The 50 plus title went to Oxford Rovers 50s, who beat the Oxford United team 2-0 in the final.

A special mention must go to Oxford United Walking Football Club, who did fantastic to reach both finals but unfortunately just fell short.

Another special mention for Cherwell Stollers 50s and Chalgrove 60s, who both played brilliant, but just missed out.

Michael Thurlow, Football Development Manager said “It was fantastic to see the return of the Oxfordshire FA Walking Football Cup since 2019 due to the last two being cancelled due COVID. The event was a huge success with over 120 players participating across two competitions”
