Get Inclusive, Raise Awareness & Get Involved

Today is International Day of Persons with Disabilities – learn how we are celebrating and raising awareness of disability football!

Friday 3 December 2021 is International Day of Persons with Disabilities. This is a day to celebrate the achievement of people around the world and increase the understanding and awareness of the challenges that people with disabilities face.

We are celebrating by raising awareness of disability football across the county, supporting clubs start provision where there is a need and helping more people with disabilities get involved.

Get Inclusive & Raise Awareness!

We want to provide support to clubs in Oxfordshire that would like to introduce new inclusive provision.

In September, we recorded an OFA Team Talk Episode with our Grassroots Volunteer of the Year Award Winner, Adam Robinson (Bure Park Disability Lead & BOBi League Committee Member).

This episode provides an insight into how clubs can set up new disability football provisions, why all clubs should get involved, what makes the BOBi League experience so special, and how people can get involved!

This short 12-minute episode is perfect for those that want to know more about inclusive football in the county and those that want to gain some useful tips on how to get new provision started.

You can listen to this new OFA Team Talks episode in the window below.

If your club has identified a need for inclusive football in the area and would like to discuss this further, please get in touch with Michael Thurlow (Football Development Manager) via Development@Oxfordshirefa.com

We are currently working with the Oxfordshire Youth Football League & BOBi League to create further content to help clubs become more inclusive, so watch this space!

Get Involved!

Our role as a county FA is to make sure football is inclusive and for all. As part of this work we strive to ensure all people with a disability have the opportunity to participate and enjoy the game in Oxfordshire – whether that is within the mainstream game or in disability specific provision.

To help raise awareness of provision available across the county, we have updated our Oxfordshire FA Disability Club & Turn-up & Play Directory, which provides information on opportunities to play disability football in Oxfordshire. Please get in touch for further details via Development@Oxfordshirefa.com
