Womens Beginner Festival

Female Football Festivals Return

Oxfordshire FA Staff
Over the last two months, 30 women have started playing football in our new monthly beginner festivals.

The beginners played a round robin festival, with individual players joining teams on the day. Teams from Oxford, Watlington, and more took part in the events with additional players turning up on their own or in pairs.

The festivals have proved a success for Women’s Football in the county, giving players the chance to try football for the first time, and players who haven’t played for years the chance to relace their boots!

The festivals will continue in March and April providing the perfect platform for beginners to try the sport and, if they really enjoy playing, giving them the opportunity to sign up for our annual Women’s Summer League which starts in May.

Upcoming Festival Details

Date: Sunday 25th March and Sunday 29th April

James Shiplee, Football Development Officer and Women and Girls’ Lead, said: “It’s been fantastic to see how well the festivals have gone so far, and I hope that we continue to find new players and teams to see the festivals grow. If there is enough interest, we may even look to deliver a competitive monthly league from next season!”
