Record Teams Turn Out for County Futsal Festival

With the FA Youth Futsal Festival back for the 2016/17 season, this year saw record numbers take part in the county finals.

In partnership with both the Oxford Mail Youth League, and Oxford Mail Girls League, the county finals have been run over December and January, with 8 teams now excitedly waiting for their turn in the South East regional competition.

With 72 teams taking part across the two competitions, over 500 players took part in the county finals vying to be one of the finalists representing Oxfordshire.

Paul Lyon, Oxford Mail Youth League Fixtures Secretary commented on the success of the event for the boys: “We received a good number of entries from around the county making this a very competitive tournament. All games were played in a good spirit and the players really enjoyed their day.”

James Shiplee, Football Development Officer, said: “It’s great to see record numbers in the futsal competition on both sides. The leagues have done a fantastic job to run them and I’d like to thank them for their hard work and commitment. Good luck to all of the winners luck in the regional finals!”
