County Cup Renamed in Memory

Oxfordshire FA announces the re-naming of one of its adult County Cups with immediate effect.

Following the recent passing of Patrick O’Flanagan, the OFA Council have unanimously decided to rename the Oxfordshire Veterans Cup as the Oxfordshire “Patrick O’Flanagan Memorial Veterans Cup”.

This is in recognition of the contributions Patrick made, not only to this competition, but to football in general at club, league and county level in Oxfordshire. From the many stories and comments shared on social media, and today at his funeral, he was considered a legend in the local game and will be sadly missed.

A staunch supporter of Kingham All Blacks over much of his life, their pavilion stands as a tribute to the efforts and contributions Patrick put in over the years.

He also helped other clubs and leagues in his own way too, from standing on a gate with a charity bucket, to driving his tractor for miles to cut the hedge around a football pitch. Patrick was also known to give his opinions on the local game

Patrick has gone but he will never be forgotten.
