From season 2013-14, The Football Association are introducing mandatory personal accident insurance for ALL adult teams.

It will be compulsory for clubs with adult teams to have personal accident insurance cover for each team for them to play. Clubs with youth teams will not need cover for them at present.

ADULT TEAMS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO COMMENCE THE SEASON UNTIL PROOF OF COVER IS PROVIDED TO THE COUNTY OFFICE

The Football Association have been reviewing this for several seasons and spoke with many companies to see what products are available and the potential costs. Whilst there is cover available that doesnt offer a weekly payout to injured players, it is strongly advised that some minimal weekly payment is provided. To get £25 per week (after 14 days) then clubs can expect to pay around £90 per team. There may be cheaper offers available but you are advised to check the amount of benefits on offer so you get value for money.

Our brokers, Bluefin, who provide our other insurance services, are The FA approved partner for the National Game Insurance Scheme and are prepared to support clubs in providing cover for their teams. That said, if a club wishes to use an alternative provider/broker then that is their choice but proof of cover will need to be provided before the team is allowed to play.

Please also note that the County Office staff are not trained or licensed to offer advice or sell insurance products so if you need any further information then please contact Bluefin, or your preferred provider, direct
