History

A history of the Oxfordshire FA

Founded on 26 January 1884, the Oxfordshire Football Association has a proud history at the heart of the local community.

A new strategic plan for 2024 to 2028 will see us celebrate our 140th anniversary in promoting continuous improvement, and a wholly-inclusive culture of shared best practice throughout our affiliated Clubs and Leagues.

The original members of the association were:

Ark House School (Banbury)
Banbury Harriers
Banbury Rovers
Bicester
Bloxham School
Caversham
Culham College
Friar Park (Henley)
Oxford County School (Thame)
Shennington
Thame

On 9 September 1999 at an extra-ordinary meeting of the Association, a proposal was carried that, from 29 September 1999, the Oxfordshire Football Association be dissolved and be reformed as the Oxfordshire Football Association Limited. This created a Limited Company by guarantee.
