Due to overwhelming demand The Football Foundation has closed the Junior Kit Scheme until further notice.
The Scheme sees £1m allocated for the purchase of 2,200 kits each year, each grant recipient receiving a kit voucher worth £400, with which they can buy Nike kit and equipment.
The JKS has proved extremely popular, with a steady number of applications (on average 40-50) arriving at the Foundation on a weekly basis. The amount of applications The Foundation receives has steadily increased in the last couple of years, rising by approximately 10% each year. Even with this increased demand, the online process means they are able to take each application through its assessment process quickly, well within the eight weeks we set ourselves for the process.
However, the scheme’s popularity and streamlined process have meant that the budget for the grant scheme has been allocated more quickly than in previous years, which has led to The Foundation having to suspend the scheme for now.
The FA is currently in discussions as to future funding of the Football Foundation and the continuation of the JKS will be determined when the funding streams and objectives have been completed.
Full applications already received and acknowledged will be processed as normal.
