To ensure that your game goes without a hitch and to ensure you keep yourself in with a shout of receiving such appointments there are a number of actions that you can take and these are explained here:
First make sure you keep the Referee Committee Appointments Secretary of all your closed dates. There is nothing more frustrating for the Appointments Secretary than to appoint an official to a game only to find out they are either on holiday or even out injured, this causes numerous reappointments that can be avoided!
You will notified by post of your appointment and you can also view all County Cup appointments by clicking here choosing the competition and then clicking on the + button of the required fixture. In your envelope you will receive your appointment, with details of the game and some competition rules, plus a copy of the post match survey.
Once you have received your appointment then confirm your acceptance immediately by return post or email and certainly within 48 hours, failure to do so could see you loose the fixture. Postal replies should be sent by first class mail to:
Referees Department
Oxfordshire FA
Unit 3, Witan Park
Avenue 2, Station Lane
Witney
OX28 1HA
Email responses can be submitted by clicking here.
Once you have accepted your appointment and you are fortunate enough to have been appointed with Neutral Assistant Referees then contact them to confirm they have accepted the game and to make arrangements for the game. You should also ensure you are fully acquainted with the competition rules for that competition i.e. KO time, number of substitutes, extra time, penalties, replays etc. This information can be found in the Oxfordshire FA County Handbook.
If having accepted your appointment you have to withdraw more than 4 full days before the fixture then you must inform the County office immediately either by clicking here or ringing 01993 894404 during office hours. If it is less than 4 full days then you must contact, in person, the Appointments Secretary immediately. Do not leave answer phone messages or send emails at this time, it is too late. In then event you cannot contact the County Appointments Secretary then contact either the Chief Assessor or the RDO but please try you hardest to contact the Appointment Secretary as he will need as much time as possible to reappoint.
Having accepted the fixture you should receive confirmation from the home club of the venue and KO time. If within 3 days of the fixture you have not received contact from the club then you should contact them. If you are unable to make contact then please contact the OFA office.
The big day arrives and hopefully you will have a very enjoyable day. You never get a second chance to make a first impression so always arrive in plenty of time, smartly attired (collar and tie) and remember you MUST have the OFA County badge on your kit, it is, after all, a County Appointment.
Following the game you must complete the post match survey which came with your appointment and this can be done on line by clicking here or by post to the address shown above. This survey is crucial in maintaining standards for referees and failure to complete the survey is letting your colleagues and future referees down. By not providing the County FA with the required information the County FA are unable to allow for “best practice” to be replicated or for development in other areas.
Also remember to submit your misconduct forms as required.
Your game is now complete and hopefully you had a really enjoyable day and you are now looking forward to your next County Cup appointments.
