U14's and U16's Girls Tesco Cup Competition

Tesco is a major sponsor of the development of women and girl’s football. Through The FA Tesco Skills Programme and the Tesco U14 Girls and U16 Girls cup competitions they are helping to increase participation in women's football at a grass roots level, and as a direct result of their sponsorship, Women's Premier League Clubs are receiving funding to support coaching, improve facilities and grow player development pathways.

The Tesco Cup under 14 and under 16's competition is open to all girls' football teams who are affiliated to Oxfordshire FA. The winners of both cups go through to a Regional and then National final. The format of competition is 11 a-side.

There has been a fantastic response from Oxfordshire teams in season 08/09, with 7 teams entering at U14 and 5 teams in the U16 category. Nationally there were a total number of 846 teams competing compared to 394 teams last season.

For season 09/10 the Tesco Cup will run inline with the county cup for both U14 and U16 girl's. This will be the first year that Oxfordshire girl's teams will compete in such a prestigious competition.
