The main subject choice for this IST will be chosen from a variety of topics based on feedback from the candidate's Module 4 forms which should have been returned to the Referee Development Officer (copies in related documents) prior to the course. The topics are normally subjects such as application of Law, recognition of offences, body language and communication, management of people and situations, fitness awareness, warm-up / cool-down techniques.
Additionally, and just as importantly, there will be a session of feedback from the candidates in which they will asked, in a group environment, about their experience thus far both on and off the field of play. Also they will discuss whether modules 1-3 had given them the required skills to complete module 4.
Once all modules have been successfully completed the candidate will be promoted to Level 8 (14/15 year olds) or Level 7 (for those aged 16+). They will also receive a refund of part of their course fees, a certificate and "Three Lions" badge - this is normally presented at their local Referees Association, details of which can be found by clicking here.
All candidates agree that whilst the Module 5 is mandatory to complete the course it also is crucial in developing their refereeing skills and helping them to progress.
It is recognised that personal circumstances will mean that candidates will be ready to undertake Module 5 at different stages and so there are a number of Module 5 sessions around the County at various times of the year to provide the best opportunity for the candidate to complete the course and become a fully qualified FA referee
