Respect Guide for Parents & Carers

The FA has launched a new free Respect online parent guide - a replacement for Soccer Parent.   This provides a great introduction in how adults should behave to support children in the game.

The online module features content to showcase unacceptable parental behaviour and its consequences on young players with commentary from well-known and grassroots football figures, including Stuart Pearce and Howard Webb.

The course is FREE and all you have to do is register with FA Learning to gain access so why not get online and get involved today.

The course offers practical advice, hints and tips on what it takes to be a supportive soccer parent and how to positively influence young players.

As well as being designed to be informative, fun and engaging, one of the key aspects of the module is that coaches are given advice to assist in gaining positive contributions from parents as well as understanding issues on specific areas such as child welfare and attitudes.

This course will help you learn:

  • The role of parents, coaches and carers
  • How to play a supportive role
  • How to have a positive influence
  • How to, and how not to behave on the sidelines

This course is for:

  • All coaches at all levels involved in coaching young players
  • Coaches on the 1st4sport/FALearning Level 1 Coaching Qualification that require a 'Respect Guide for Parents & Carers' certificate
  • All parents / carers  that want to be supportive in their child's football career
